POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for prevention of injuries and drowning by enforcing pool rules. Trains for and carries out the Emergency Action Plan, not limited to, but including: responding to swimmer/wader water-related emergencies, responding to sudden illness, providing first aid, teaching swimming lessons, conducting water tests, cleaning the facility and equipment, and provides excellent customer service.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prevent drowning, accident and injury by enforcing pool rules and responding to emergencies

• In the event of an emergency or sudden illness, follow the Emergency Action Plan

• Perform rescues, CPR and AED in accordance with American Red Cross protocols and training

• Attends and actively participates in weekly in-service training

• Conduct regular water readings and respond according to the findings

• Teach swimming lessons and test students to insure they have completed all the necessary skills before advancing them to the next level

• Maintain a clean, safe work environment to include, but not limited to: pool, deck, locker/rest rooms, office space, first aid station

• Provide excellent customer service

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must hold a current lifeguard certification in accordance with approved certifying agencies as listed in the WI Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. (ATCP) Chapter 76.

• Must comply with age limits designated in ATCP Chapter 76

• Must successfully complete the department's pre-employment lifeguard skills test.

COMPENSATION:

$12.00 per hour. This seasonal position is not eligible for benefits.
