Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a part-time Lifeguard.

• Department: Athletics and Recreation

Job Description:

Lifeguards are primarily responsible for the health and safety of all Aquatic Center patrons. Lifeguards are also responsible for general housekeeping and maintenance duties at the facility.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain order in all areas of the facility. Maintain assigned post unless relieved by an authorized and certified replacement.

• Maintain certifications in lifeguarding, first aid, and CPR. Enforce all facility rules and polices in a firm, consistent manner.

• Perform rescues of swimmers when they are in danger. Apply emergency lifesaving and first aid techniques; and in case of severe injuries, obtains professional aid immediately.

• Answer and respond to patron questions and complaints when possible.

• Perform general maintenance and housekeeping duties around the facility when instructed by supervisory personnel.

• Attend and participate in scheduled lifeguard trainings, in-services, and orientations.

• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED.

• At least 1 year experience as a Lifeguard.

• Current CPR, AED, and first aid certification.

• Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.

• Because this position requires driving for college business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver's license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Additional Information:

Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, Pennsylvania ACT 153 background clearances, and verification of credentials. The College will coordinate these verifications.
