Job Summary
The lifeguard will be available on pool deck to monitor patrons' safety at the Spearfish Recreation and Aquatics Center.
Essential Functions
The lifeguard:
Will be required to have a physical presence and regular and reliable attendance.
Maintains order and implements safety procedures.
Maintains pool area in a clean and presentable manner
Learns and follows all city-established safety practices and personnel policies.
Help ensures patron safety and protects lives through patron surveillance.
Attends regular in-services and trainings.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Must have a high level of responsibility
Must be punctual
Ability to enforce rules and regulations and have good sound judgment
Ability to establish and maintain an effective and positive working relationship with employees and the general public
Familiarity with overall pool operations including administration, chemicals and mechanics
Possess excellent public relation skills
Ability to follow oral and written orders
Minimum Qualifications
Must have Red Cross or equivalent approved lifeguard certification
WSI certification preferred
Must be at least 15 years of age
Willing to receive additional training
