NOTE: Team Members can be scheduled as early as 7:00 am and as late as 11:00 pm in this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide exemplary service to guests and team members

  • Maintain patron surveillance on water attractions that are less than 5 feet in depth including slide dispatch

  • Responsible for all aspects of safety on all water activities, including bottoms of waterslides and activity pools

  • Prevent and respond to emergencies

  • Maintain the ability to pass a SEA swim test throughout the season

  • Maintain an acceptable level of proficiency of park knowledge, water rescue, CPR/AED, and First Aid Skills

  • Attend scheduled in-service training and participate in regular audits to maintain or increase skill level

  • Consistently practice safe work habits including, but not limited to use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations.

  • Establish and maintain a positive atmosphere which ensures the highest level of team member while supporting and demonstrating exemplary guest service

  • Maintain organization of area including but not limited to cleanliness and proper product storage

  • Maintain a professional appearance that meets grooming standards.

Requirements and Competencies

  • Must be able to act responsibly with a high attention to safety

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time including bending, pushing and pulling

  • Must have an American Red Cross Lifeguarding, Shallow Water Lifeguarding or Aquatics Attraction Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for Lifeguards certification or must be able to pass all requirements to obtain certification in these courses.

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays

  • Must be able to stand and walk in extreme weather conditions for prolonged periods of time

  • Must be successful in passing the SEA swim test

  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Must be willing to comply with and ensure team members comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards.

  • Must be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines

Swim Test Skill Review:

  • 100 yard (4 lengths of the pool) continuous swim; You may use freestyle, breaststroke OR a combination of the two; we will be looking for a consistent stroke; This test will NOT be timed

  • Tread water for 2 minutes in the deep end of the pool without using your arms

  • Swim 20 yards using freestyle or breaststroke, retrieve a 10-pound object from a depth of 4 feet, and return (Under 50 seconds)
