The Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio is seeking interested and qualified candidates for a full time (220 day limited employment contract) , as a Essentials of Life Skills Para-Professional (Aide) position, assigned to the Green Road facility, of the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities for the 2024 - 2025 school year.

Beyond the Essentials of Life Skills is an immersive training experience designed to enhance independent living abilities within a classroom, lab, and home environment. The intent is to focus on meeting the identified need of supporting people to learn the skills, knowledge, and experience that is necessary to transition to a more independent style of living. Throughout the duration of Beyond the Essentials of Life Skills, people will learn to consistently transfer these skills between all three environments.

Para-Professional will provide daily support to Instructor and young adults

  • Work with students in lab areas

  • Assist with community integration

  • Maintain supplies in lab and classroom

  • Assist instructor as needed

  • Assist Cuyahoga DD team to modify the current curriculum to meet the needs of the program.

  • Work with Cuyahoga DD therapy staff to learn and incorporate the Florio System into the classroom programming.

  • Attend trainings and informational meetings with the Learn4Independence community in order provide feedback and growth for the program.

  • Work collaboratively with the Cuyahoga DD leadership team to determine growth and direction of the program.

  • Work with the Support Administrator and the student's team to identify goals for the program and ensure the student has support for next steps following graduation.

  • Keep and maintain documentation for students that measures the progress of those goals.

  • Provide insight into pre and post assessments to help Cuyahoga DD leadership staff determine eligibility and program success

Qualifications include: Willingness to be a part of a professional team creating an educational program that provides transition, work study and adult outcome skills to young adults with developmental delays in a classroom and community based program. Proven experience and/or skill set and knowledge base working with young adults with developmental disabilities.
