Are you passionate about helping individuals with special needs develop essential life skills and reach their full potential? If so, New Horizons is looking for an engaging Life Skills Instructor to join our team.

New Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals with special needs. With over 60 years of experience, we are committed to enhancing their quality of life and promoting their independence and inclusion in the community.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing hands-on instruction and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in various life skills areas.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized training programs based on each individual's goals and needs.
  • Teach essential life skills such as personal hygiene, home maintenance, meal planning and preparation, money management, and community navigation.
  • Assist individuals in developing social skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Provide support and encouragement to foster independence and self-confidence.
  • Track progress and document outcomes for each individual.

  • A perfect part-time or second job!
  • No experience necessary. We are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Flexible availability. 25- 40 hours a week (may include weekends)
  • Schedule: Monday- Friday (8am- 4pm) (4pm- 12am) (12am- 8am), Every other weekend or as needed
  • Rate: $21.00-21.50

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with individuals with special needs or developmental disabilities preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to adapt and modify instruction to accommodate individual needs and abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
