  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool; including all levels of the water and surrounding areas.
    2.Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately.
    3.Completes related reports as required in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
    4.Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool area.
    5.Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or Health Department code.
    6.Maintains effective, positive relationships with the members, participants and other staff.
    7.Conveys basic program information to members and identify potential volunteers.
    8.Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is ready and available as needed.
    9.Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving. Performs chemical testing as required.
  2. Create a mission-based environment which enables everyone to be engaged in the YMCA movement.
  3. Attends all staff meetings and in-service training; trains and supervises junior lifeguards as assigned.

Requirements1. Minimum age of 16.
2.Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
3.Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time in wide range of weather conditions.
4.Communicate with others immediately when responding to an incident or an emergency.
5.Ability to think in the abstract, solve problems, and make quick decisions under stress.
6.Have adequate memory skills to be able to retain and apply lifeguard training knowledge.
7.Ability to effectively communicate information with members, peers and supervisors.
8.Must be observant, safety conscious, and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.

VIEW JOBS 7/16/2018 12:00:00 AM 2018-10-14T00:00 The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the overall operation of the Life Enrichment Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Life Enrichment Director, to assure that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet the needs interest and abilities of residents. Essential Job Functions Duties and Responsibilities Life Enrichment Functions 1. Assist with implementing, facilitating, and evaluating the Life Enrichment programs. 2. Facilitate activities with other departments. 3. Facilitate resident outings into the community as determined by their interests and abilities. 4. Provide necessary adaptations (creative or supplies) to meet individual resident needs. 5. Participate in special events. 6. Review, resolve or properly refer departmental complaints and grievances and communicate to the Life Enrichment Director of action(s) taken as appropriate. 7. Assist with implementing and maintaining an ongoing quality assurance program for the Life Enrichment department. 8. Participate in scheduled training including in-service and orientation classes. 9. Ensure that department work areas are maintained in a clean, sanitary, and safe manner. 10. Use creative problem solving to address resident needs. 11. Abide by facility and department policies and procedures. Job Requirements Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive criticism. Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility. Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents, and families. Education and Experience Prefer experience in an applicable setting or equivalent experience.
