How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

In partnership with their assigned External Wholesalers, the Sales Specialist focuses on driving sales through financial advisors, and creating perfect partners. This role assists in developing and managing distribution relationships by facilitating business production, creative selling and problem resolution. The Sales Specialist has their own sales goals and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively call out to designated advisors to drive sales

  • Segment financial advisors for a given territory that have a high propensity to sell and convert them into active sellers

  • Independently works to identify and foster leads generated from referrals, ad campaigns and territory canvassing

  • Actively develop new relationships with financial advisors to significantly capture sales and grow assets, especially in key distribution partner firms

  • Responsible for building new relationships with financial advisors in National Broker Dealers (BDs), Regional BDs and Independent BDs to increase revenue from life insurance sales. Ensuring trust from the financial advisor is crucial for the successful execution of the job

  • Conduct meetings telephonically/virtually with financial advisors and clients to educate and sell life insurance. Additionally, actively consult and advise financial advisors to provide them with value-added strategies to grow their business

  • Collaborate with financial advisors to include life insurance as part of a financial plan for clients. Ability to educate financial advisors on financial products and the process of selling life insurance products

  • Relay Brighthouse Financial's value proposition to current and prospective sellers

  • Present sales ideas and training workshops virtually to increase advisors' knowledge of Brighthouse Financial's product offering

  • Responsible for keeping financial advisors abreast of Market and Legislative updates, rapidly changing products and service agreements

  • Solving advisors' problems while providing an excellent experience

  • Full accountability and ownership of problems until resolution is complete

  • Ability to make 900 outbound dials in a month

  • Ability to conduct phone or skype sales conversations with advisors? (Discovery Meetings, Practice Reviews)

  • Other duties as required

Essential Business Experience and

Technical Skills:
  • 2+ year's sales experience, preferably in the life insurance industry. Advanced degrees or industry designations are a plus

  • Ability to sell a contract/present the product

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely as well as an ability to motivate the client to action with a high degree of professionalism

  • Thorough knowledge of and proven ability to demonstrate sales and marketing principles and practices

  • Expected to maintain a thorough knowledge of existing, new and enhanced products

  • Proven ability to grow a territory as measured by sales and persistency of business

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent of experience and education

  • FINRA Series 6 or 7 and Series 63

  • The ability to obtain Life and Health Insurance License with Variable Authority and Certified Long Term Care Designation (CLTC) within 120 days of employment

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
