Overview

The Child Development Division (CDD) is seeking a new Licensing Supervisor. This is a leadership position within CDD's Child Care Licensing Unit: a dedicated and close-knit team of professionals who are tasked with regulating center-based child care, afterschool care, family child care, and prekindergarten programs in Vermont. The person in this position is based at the Waterbury State Office Complex with the ability to telework. This position reports directly to the Director of Child Care Licensing.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supervision of the five-person Child Care Business Technician team, which is responsible for processing child care applications, reapplications, and background record checks, and that supports related customer informational needs and requests through phone and email communications;

  • Conducting evaluative, regulatory, and investigative work for the division, as needed, to ensure programs' compliance with state regulations, and to promote the health and safety of the children attending Vermont's child care programs;

  • Close collaboration with the Licensing Unit Director and Supervisory Team to accomplish unit and division goals, in alignment with Division priorities and values;

  • Strong IT skills;

  • Supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for this position include:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of regulatory administration including knowledge of investigatory principles and practices

  • Knowledge of the child care industry in Vermont and of recommended practice in child care program operations.

  • Knowledge of early childhood development and evidence based practices.

  • Knowledge of continuous quality improvement, collaboration and systems development principles and practices.

  • Ability to locate, analyze and draw relevant conclusions from data and research to inform policy development.
