Job Title:

On Call Licensed Vocational Nurse / Licensed Psychiatric Technician

Division/Program:

(Adult Inpatient) Crisis Residential Unit

Starting Compensation:

32.00 - 34.00 USD Per Hour

Working Location:

Merced, CA

Working Hours/Shift:

On Call as needed coverage: NOC Shift 6pm-6:30am $2 differential for NOC shift coverage

What you bring to SBHG:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing or psychiatric technology required.

  • Associate degree in nursing or social sciences preferred.

  • (1) year nursing experience required, preferably treating the mentally ill in an inpatient setting. (Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for a portion of work experience.)

  • (1) year medication administration experience preferred.

  • Valid California LVN or LPT license required.

  • Valid CPR certification required within 30 days of employment.

  • Valid First Aid certification required within 30 days of employment.

  • Valid ProAct certification required within 30 days of employment.

  • Valid Opioid First Aid certification required within 30 days of employment.

How you will make a difference:

  • Provides direct nursing care and supervises same provided by all nursing staff on the shift worked.

  • Makes written or oral shift assignments and plans, organizes, and directs the nursing activities of the unit, assuring quality care delivery.

  • Visually and audibly observes, documents in writing, and reports orally or in writing the physical or mental condition to the Program Manager and the attending physician or nurse practitioner.

  • Orders, prepares, administers, and documents the administration of medication for clients according to physicians' or nurse practitioners' orders. Confirms delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.

  • Responsible for writing a weekly summary on clients as assigned.

  • Monitors and maintains appropriate nursing documentation in the medical record for shift worked.

  • Communicates pertinent information verbally and in writing to all team members.

  • Prepares, presents, and coordinates or supervises a verbal or written change of shift report.

  • Provides other nursing duties including first aid and medical intervention within scope of licensure as necessary for each individual client.

  • Assists in crisis intervention (including the use of Pro-ACT) and provides support and assistance in problem resolution. Uses Pro-ACT to appropriately intervene with assaultive/volatile clients.

  • May assist in coordinating and arranging other appointments.

  • Monitors and contributes to the cleanliness of the facility.

  • Reads and responds to company communications via email, telephone, or other selected mode within a reasonable timeframe. Logs into established company information sharing sites regularly to maintain current knowledge of changes in policy, procedure, events, etc.

  • Regularly attends department meetings and mandatory work meetings, events, etc. as assigned by Management/Administration.

  • Participates in the Agency's and SBHG's Total Quality Management (TQM) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) systems which support compliance with Joint Commission and other accreditation standards as applicable.

  • Participates in TQM activities as requested including CQI subcommittees, probes, peer review, audit and/or tracer activities as appropriate.

  • 24/7 inpatient voluntary program

  • 16-bed facility for adults (ages 18-59)

  • Rehabilitation/recovery services, including substance use rehabilitation services

  • Pre-vocational or vocational counseling

  • Medication evaluation and support services
