Department Summary

HSC Health is the academic clinical practice for the University of North Texas Health Science Center. HSC Health's primary and multispecialty care clinics are in the beautiful Museum District of Fort Worth. Our clinics provide opportunities to support specialties such as:

Position Overview

A successful Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will have:

• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients

• Ability to assess patients quickly and accurately

• Demonstrated sound judgment and composure, with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.

• Maintain a positive, caring, and compassionate attitude toward patients

• A strong work ethic and display a high level of professionalism

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and two (2) years of related experience. A valid Texas LVN License and a current CPR (BLS) certificate are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a clinical environment

• Experience with NextGen EMR

• Bilingual in Spanish/English

Job Duties:

• Measure and record patients' vital signs, perform procedures and administer medications, injections, and vaccines as ordered by the clinician in the electronic health record. Assembles, maintains, and properly uses equipment in patient care delivery.

• Return patient calls and perform telephone triage following standardized protocols and clinicians' guidance.

• Gauges patient's overall health status, updating clinicians as indicated. Provides oversight and guidance to medical assistants in collaboration with clinic supervisor/manager.

• Obtain insurance authorizations for referrals, procedures, and medications. Follows clinical protocols for medication refills. Completes patient forms as necessary.

• Follows all departmental and organizational policies and procedures with regard to patient safety, quality management, infection control, and human resources. Ensure appropriate legal and regulatory standards.

• Deliver culturally competent care that respects each patient's individual beliefs.

Work Schedule:

Full Time, 40 hours weekly, Monday

• Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The position is on-site at HSC Health. No travel is required.
