Summary:

TRANSFERRING OR HIRING ANYONE INTO THIS ROLE REQUIRES EXPRESS WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE CHST EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT/CHIEF NURSING OFFICER PRIOR TO OPENING A REQUISITION AND/OR EXTENDING A JOB OFFER.The incumbent in this position performs direct patient care activities in collaboration with a registered nurse in an outpatient or ambulatory setting only. This position also assists with maintaining department organization, equipment and supplies.This position may not be used in an inpatient setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency in current vocational nursing theory; provides direct patient care as listed on LVN competency checklist; recognizes and communicates changes in patient condition or needs to RN or physician; and contributes to care plan and discharge planning.
  • Reinforces health teaching with patients and families, based on medical and nursing care plan; provides appropriate emotional support to patients and families; collaborates with other health team members to ensure continuity of patient care; and demonstrates sensitivity to the needs and in satisfaction of patients, families, and other customers.
  • Assists in maintaining the adequacy, orderliness, and safety of the unit's/department's environment, equipment, and supplies. Participates in performance improvement activities of the unit. Seeks and utilizes efficient and effective methods for performing job; utilizes resources appropriately; demonstrates cooperation and teamwork in carrying out assignments; and performs other duties and special projects as required.

This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

You may be required to float occasionally to other Children's Health locations including Dallas, Plano and THD Clinics.(sStart time hours can be discussed during interviews)

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree

Credentials:

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse
  • Basic Life Support

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Graduation from an accredited vocational (practice) nurse program with evidence of an approved pharmacology course in basic or continuing education program Req

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school Req

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current license to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas Req
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements Req
  • PACES certification for LVNs 180 Days Req
