Licensed Vocational Nurse

Overview

This position is responsible for providing acute nursing patient care in a safe, appropriate and effective manner under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in compliance with the LVN Practice Act. Additional responsibilities include collecting patient information, timely and complete documentation of patient care and implementation of assigned tasks, medical orders and plan of care. Integrates patient care standards into all patient care activities.

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of SGVMC and AHMC Inc. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Consistently applies infection control policies/practices. Meets population/age specific competencies.

Attends department specific education/training, inservices, and staff meetings. Department specific performance improvement project. Provides for psycho-social, spiritual and cultural needs of the patients, family, and others.

Provides for the education of patients, family, and others. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently provide care in emergency situations. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently administer medications, intravenous therapy, etc.

Demonstrates competence in the performance of duties/responsibilities related to patient care. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently use equipment, supplies and perform therapeutic/ diagnostic interventions.

Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience

Graduate of an LVN School of Nursing.

One year acute care experience as an LVN in Medical Surgical Services or any other specialty required. In lieu of this experience, consideration will be made for an employee with strong education and associated experiential background and/or work history.

Basic Arrhythmia (must be completed within 90 days upon hire)

Licenses/Certifications

Current CA LVN license (should be IV certified)

BLS, ACLS, PALS

NIHSS

MAB (Must be AB 508)
