Pasado's Safe Haven is actively recruiting a full-time Veterinary Technician to fill the role of Sanctuary Clinic Manager at our 85 acre animal sanctuary located in Monroe, WA.The Sanctuary Clinic Manager is responsible for managing daily operations of the onsite veterinary rehabilitation clinic and partnering with animal care staff and contract veterinarians to facilitate appropriate medical care for the dogs, cats, birds and other farmed animals who have been rescued and are awaiting their forever home. This position will manage a small team of veterinary assistants and will work closely with outside veterinarians to schedule visits, coordinate medical care and assist with providing care under the supervision of established veterinarians.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversee clinic operations, including managing daily clinic schedules for general care, intakes, and surgeries for dogs & cats, maintaining adequate supplies and medication inventories, maintaining accurate and comprehensive medical records, and supervising staff assigned to the clinic. Coordinate the scheduling of outside veterinarians, specialists and emergency veterinary care for dogs and cats with the animal care teams and communicate treatment plans and medical results in a timely manner to ensure the highest standards of care of consistently maintained.

Provide basic medical care to dogs and cats and a variety of farmed animals (goats, sheep, birds, llamas, alpacas, etc.) in a farm environment, with assistance from animal caregivers and under vet supervision. Assist in the examination, treatment, and monitoring of animals ensuring proper holding and restraining of patients in accordance with fear-free policies. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed.

Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement, lab tests and diagnostic imaging. Prepare and analyze laboratory samples such as blood, urine and feces, interpret and communicate results and ensure all laboratory equipment remains in good working order. Prepare and set up clinic and surgical rooms for scheduled exams and surgeries and ensure that all surgical instruments and supplies are efficiently and properly cleaned and sterilized in a timely manner.

Assist veterinarian with surgical procedures and monitoring anesthesia. Collaborate with the finance and operations team to ensure proper inventory controls for purchasing, storage and tracking of medications, including controlled substances, are maintained in such a way to minimize waste. Collaborate as a member of the intake team to coordinate intakes for new animal residents, providing information on medical staff availability and isolation space and provide medical information as needed to support adoptions, media and fundraising efforts.

Act as a point of contact for medical emergencies and coordinate with veterinarians and animal care staff in a timely manner to ensure that emergency situations are handled appropriately. Regularly attend meetings relevant to the Sanctuary Program where medical care input may be needed and collaborate on educating animal caregivers on basic handling, care, nutrition, medication administration and disease prevention. Maintain up to date SOPs for clinic operations and proactively provide recommendations on new protocols and processes as needed.

Ensure adherence to all OSHA and internally established safety standards. Collaborate with other staff members to ensure proper cross-training as needed to ensure continuity of clinic operations. Maintain good working relationships with sanctuary staff, contract vets and vendors, and provide recommendations on new vendors as needed.

Participate in continuing education opportunities and strive to expand breadth of knowledge and skills in the medical treatment of resident animals. Required Skills/Qualifications: Licensed Veterinary Technician required.

Prior experience managing a veterinary clinic strongly preferred. Prior experience working in a shelter or animal sanctuary preferred. Must be an excellent people manager with a proven ability to set priorities and promote a positive, collaborative, solution-oriented culture.

Must have excellent time management and organizational skills and be adept at multitasking. Must be an effective communicator and demonstrate personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the organization's mission. Must be able to effectively utilize various technology platforms.
