At Yorktown Veterinary Associates (YVA), we provide a wide range of veterinary services, including preventative care (e.g., wellness examinations, vaccinations, parasite control, microchipping), surgical and procedural services (e.g., spay/neuter, soft tissue/orthopedic surgery, dentistry, radiology, laboratory analysis), consultations (e.g., sick visits, cardiology, ultrasonography, specialty surgery, weight management) and pharmacological services.

Job Description
Job Duties (including, but not limited to, the following)
Technical Skills: venipuncture, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, anesthesia administration/management, intubation and patient monitoring, surgical assistance, catheterization, IV administration, dentistry procedures, lab protocols, operation and maintenance of clinic equipment, nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases, medication administration, animal handling/restraint.
Additional Skills: strong oral and written communication skills including effective review of treatment plans to clients, ability to respond to client queries, diverse veterinary field product knowledge, effective patient intake, attention to detail and solid organizational skills, strong computer skills (knowledge of Cornerstone veterinary software a plus), ability to prioritize, collegial attitude and team player, intellectually curious, ability to put the needs of our patients first.
Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises and possibly be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste, and potentially contagious diseases.

Qualifications
We're looking for:
Summary of What a Strong YVA Veterinary Technician Candidate Possesses
Excellent and deep technical skills as outlined
Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, laboratory sampling and diagnostics, clinic operations/flow
Strong knowledge of the veterinary field overall and very comfortable working in a fast-paced clinic environment
Loves working with animals and is passionate about their quality of care
Ability to interpret medical records and record client history accurately
Exceptional and precise communicator with both clients and colleagues
Dependable, hard-working, collegial/positive attitude ... a team player
Experience required and must be an LVT
Self-starter with desire to continue to advance knowledge and skillset
Ability to receive feedback in a professional manner constructive feedback
Ideally looking for part-time (1-3 days per week) but would consider full-time for the right experienced candidate
