SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing diagnostic and evaluation services to individuals and their families who have or who are suspected of having mental health, substance abuse and/or intellectually disabled.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education: Master's degree in related mental health area required.

Licensure: Must possess the highest level of licensure appropriate to degree.

Certification: Must possess the highest level of certification appropriate to degree.

Experience: Experience in clinical practice preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.

Appropriate verbal and written communication skills.

Appropriate training in administration and interpretation of psychometric tools.

EQUIPMENT:

Computer, fax, copier, recorder, voice recognition (if applicable) and any other equipment required to perform the functions of the position.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.Conduct clinical interviews with individuals in a therapeutic manner so as to obtain critical and thorough information, provide written documentation of information obtained and exercise good judgment in

evaluating clients, making interpretations and providing recommendations.

2.Utilize appropriate psychometric tools as part of an overall assessment.

3.Formulate an accurate DSM diagnosis based on information obtained.

4.If a forensic evaluation, the specific requests by the court are addressed appropriately and in compliance

with the requirements of the referral source and agency/ program policy.

5.Provide a written psychological evaluation report in a timely manner in accordance with the requirements of the referral source and agency/ program policy.

  • Unless otherwise specified by contract/agreement, a published report within 21 days of the final testing (85% expected standard)
    • A minimum of 50% of clinical time spent face-to face with clients (100% expected standard)
    • A pre-determined total number of yearly psychological evaluations
    • Forensic evaluations completed within 30 working days (75% expected standard)
    • Forensic evaluation completed on an outpatient basis without need for inpatient referral (80% expected standard)

6.Maintain confidentiality according to agency policies.

7.Remain current in knowledge of community resources to make appropriate recommendations.

8.Keep supervisor apprised of all critical or potential emergency situations.

9.Responds to emergency/crisis or walk-in situations calmly, rationally and in accordance with agency policy

and procedures.



  1. Provide consultation and education services to the community as requested by supervisor/administration.

  2. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-services and individual program


planning staffings as needed.

PATIENTS SERVED:

Licensed (Senior) Psychological Examiners serve children/adolescents and adults. Examiners are constantly aware of the age group(s) of patients served including the nature of evaluation services provided and the skills necessary to provide these services based upon the position's scope of practice.
