Licensed Psychologist (Per Diem or Part-Time MHALA Employee)

15-20 hours per week / $55 - $75 per hour

(The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.)

Summary: MHALA is dedicated to providing holistic care to the people we serve. We understand that Neurodivergent conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder often co-occur with other psychiatric conditions, and we are committed to growing our ability to serve this population. To that end MHALA is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded funding which will allow us to hire a per diem Licensed Psychologist to join our team with two main goals: 1) To assess participants of our Wellness Center program for Neurodivergent conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and 2) to provide trainings to our staff to deepen our knowledge of Neurodivergent conditions and learn strategies to meet the needs of this population. This is an exciting new area of services we are developing, and we are in search of someone to join our team who shares our passion for serving this population and providing holistic person-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive task list, and other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary by the supervisor or program director.   • The Psychologist will join a multi-disciplinary team providing holistic mental health care to members of the Wellness Center. The Psychologist will provide psychological assessment and diagnosis of referred members, with a particular focus on assessing members for Neurodivergent conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.

  • The Psychologist will develop a recommended treatment plan and disposition for each member assessed. This information will be reported to the Wellness Center Team to implement appropriate supports to members.

  • The Psychologist will report and assist with tracking outcomes to the Director for purposes of reporting to grant funders.

  • The Psychologist will document all clinical services in the Electronic Health Record as required by LA County Department of Mental Health.

  • The Psychologist will provide 4 trainings within the initial year of the grant on topics that will assist MHALA staff better serve the needs of the Neurodivergent population including introductions to neurodiversity, how Neurodivergent conditions present in adults including demographics and comorbidities with other psychiatric disorders, a training specifically for clinicians on best therapeutic practices, and finally a training on resources available to support Neurodivergent individuals including community services, adaptive devices, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Licensed Psychologist in the State of California.

  • Clinical experience working with adults with Neurodivergent conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, as well as experience with other psychiatric disorders including Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, and Psychotic Disorders.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

  • Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.

  • Driving with current class C drivers license, proof of valid automobile insurance, and the ability to be insured by MHALA liability insurance are conditions of employment.

  • TB clearance and yearly re-testing are conditions of employment

  • Understanding of confidentiality, HIPAA, and other legal and ethical guidelines affecting evaluation and compliance.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information with discretion

  • COVID-19 vaccination is a requirement of this position. Accommodations will be considered upon proof of a legal exemption.
