LPN or MA# NURSING SUMMARY/ PURPOSE OF POSITION The primary purposes of the Licensed Practice Nurse (LPN) are to provide direct patient care, patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) and within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. QUALIFICATIONS Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current, active licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse through the Ohio Board of Nursing. Maintain current, active BLS certification through the American Heart Association. Collaborates with patient, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice. LPN is a patient advocate in conjunction with the other members of the healthcare team and fosters patient safety, comfort, and satisfaction. Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice. Adhere to professional standards and guidelines, including ethical actions, relevant statutes, rules and regulations, during nursing practice. Exhibits High Reliability Organization (HRO) tools and tones. Responsible for timely review of emails, department communications and applicable learning assignments and completion as applicable.
