  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Supports the current operations of the Interventional Pain Management office/clinic by providing services to patients in need. This service line encompasses epidural injections, facet injections, radio frequency ablations, diagnostic procedures including EMG's, and Baclofen pumps trails. Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and inter-multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families.

  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • COMPLETES REQUESTS

  • Under the direction of the physicians, calls all patients with results of lab and test results prescription refills and new orders using e-prescribing when available.

  • Monitors the clinical in box within the EMR providing follow-up to physician and patient requests.

  • Triages patient phone calls for those calls related to medial issues/complications to facilitate the appropriate levels of care and coordinated office visits.

  • Documents all phone conversations regarding patients as well as recommendations given to the patient.

  • OPTIMIZES PATIENTS' SATISFACTION, PROVIDER TIME, AND TREATMENT ROOM UTILIZATION

  • Explains procedures, treatments and nursing care to patients prior to the procedure and ensures all possible side effects are discussed and all questions have been answered.

  • Assists physicians with procedures, obtaining patient consent, providing a sterile safe environment, conducting a time out prior to the procedure, administering medications as ordered, & wound care.

  • Prepares specimens for out-side lab testing.

  • Assists Medical Assistants as needed by measuring and recording vital signs.

  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.

  • Schedules appointments for special testing and referrals.

  • Completes documentation in patient electronic charts.

  • Ensures physician completes diagnosis and coding for patient or billing department in an appropriate time frame.

  • Prepares, maintains, & orders inventory clinical supplies and medication, and ensures adequate levels are kept and organized.

  • Maintains equipment (Fluro, EMG, and Ultrasound) reporting any issues to Biomed as to ensure no interruption of services.

  • PROVIDES PATIENT CARE

  • Recognizes and meets the basic needs of the client, giving nursing care under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse and/or licensed physician to clients in routine nursing situations.

  • Works with outside medical specialists to ensure coordination of care.

  • Reviews policy and procedures prior to performing responsibilities which are unfamiliar.

  • Provides patient education as needed.

  • ASSURES QUALITY OF CARE

  • Enforces adherence to State Board of Nursing and State Nurse Practice Act requirements and to other governing agency regulations.

  • Serves as a leader, mentor, preceptor, and colleague to all of the nurses and staff within the organization.

  • Assists in writing and updating policies and procedures.

  • Adheres to all infection control practices.

  • Sterilizes rooms, equipment and supplies.

  • Maintains exposure control plan.

  • Complies with Environment of Care policies.

  • Enforces medication administration policies and procedures, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.

  • Maintains all regulatory logs. (Refrigerator, medication, etc.).

  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.

  • ENSURES AVAILABILITY OF TREATMENT INFORMATION

  • Files and retrieves patient records.

  • Reviews lab/special test results with patients, answering routine nursing questions.

  • Orders and conducts inventory control of all injection drugs as needed.

  • HELPS PATIENTS IN DISTRESS

  • Responds to emergencies.

  • PROTECTS PATIENTS' RIGHTS

  • Maintains confidentiality of personal and financial information.

  • CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT

  • Assists staff to fill patient needs.

  • ESTABLISHES A COMPASSIONATE ENVIRONMENT

  • Provides emotional, psychological and spiritual support to patients and families and other associates.

  • RESOLVES PATIENT PROBLEMS AND NEEDS

  • Utilizes multidisciplinary team strategies and conflict resolution strategies under the supervision of the Physician.

  • MAINTAINS SAFE AND CLEAN WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Adheres to infection control policies.

  • Follows processes for medication and controlled substance administration and handling.

  • Keeps patient environment free of clutter.

  • Reports unsafe equipment or situations according to policy.

  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education

  • Graduate of an accredited program required

  • Work Experience

  • Previous experience in a physician's office preferred

  • Licenses / Certifications

  • LPN license required

  • Basic Life Support / CPR, as a healthcare provider, per the American Heart Association required
