Licensed Practical Nurse

Hours- 48 hour

Shift- 7 am to 7:30 pm

Position Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of the patient care team with primary responsibilities for technical, multi-skilled direct and indirect patient care activities. The LPN is assigned to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse who delegates tasks based upon patient needs and LPN skills and abilities. The LPN will report all deviations from expected patient parameters to the Registered Nurse.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1.Gathers assessment data, monitors comprehensive physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients/significant others under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Reports findings to the Registered Nurse.

2.Provides competent care consistent with the nursing process and written plan of care, physician's orders and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.

3.Participates in transition planning, in collaboration with health care team, at the time of admission and continues through discharge.

4.Provides patient and family education to meet their specific needs as outlined in the plan of care and delegated by the Registered Nurse.

5.Documents care consistent with guidelines.

6.Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

Qualifications Required:

• Graduation from a school of practical nursing.

• Licensed as a practical nurse by the State of Michigan.

• BLS certification

Preferred:

• Completion of NAPNES course or an equivalent college level pharmacology class.
