Covenant Physician Partners is hiring a Fulltime LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) for The Endoscopy Center at Gateway located in Edwardsville, PA.

Please note the pay range for this position is $22-$25/hr.

About the Opportunity

Under general direction from Center Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides professional nursing care through assessment, planning, treatment and evaluation of the patient. The Licensed Practical nurse is responsible for delivering safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, educative and individualized nursing care to patients and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Verifies that essential equipment is functioning properly each day.

  • Assesses and monitors patients in the post-operative area demonstrating competency with all monitoring equipment.

  • Transports and positions patients observing policies/procedures, safety requirements, and patient needs.

  • Documents patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures.

  • Maintains patient safety, and ensures a clean, orderly environment throughout the Center.

  • Dons proper protective attire (gloves, gown, facial shield) while processing scopes, accessories and instruments

  • Maintains logs for processing equipment and instruments in accordance to the center's board approved Infection Control guidelines and the manufacturer's instructions for use.

  • Adheres to CDC Bodily Fluid precautions and infectious waste disposal according to policy.

  • Monitors compliance with principles of aseptic technique according to accepted standards

  • Maintains processors and autoclaves, performing daily checks and cultures and documenting in the appropriate records. Monitors cleaning solution daily for potency, and records results per policy.

  • If sterile processing is performed, ensures processing, packaging, sterilization and storage of items are conducted to maintain sterility of items.

  • Cleans procedure rooms each morning and between each case. Terminally cleans rooms at the end of each day.

  • May handle specimens obtained during procedure, properly labeling, packaging and preparing for shipment

  • Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders/directions.

  • Addresses individual patient needs, and completes all post-op physician orders.

  • Organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management.

  • Conducts pre and post-procedure orientation and instruction of patient and/or patient's family, communicating a positive and caring attitude. Provides verbal and written discharge criteria.

  • Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members.

  • Conducts pre and post-procedure telephone interviews.

  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

About the Candidate

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.

  • Three years clinical experience in the peri-operative setting or procedure healthcare including demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, working with anesthetized patients, and other clinical situations found in a surgical or procedural setting

  • Holds current LPN/LVN license from the applicable authority.

  • Must possess a working knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment impacting ASC's, and the applicable standards of the AAAHC, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies for ambulatory surgery centers.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians and all medical professionals.

  • Current certification in CPR and, depending on Center policy, ACLS.

  • Critical Care, E.R., or recovery experience encouraged.

  • IV certification strongly preferred.
