Corrigan Community Mental Health Center Inpatient Unit is a 16-bed 24/7 staffed locked unit whose mission and purpose is to provide person-centered quality care to adult patient s who are admitted from the community in need of acute psychiatric assessment and services. The unit is staffed with psychiatrists, Registered nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Mental Health Workers (MHW), as well as Social Work and Rehabilitative/Occupational services. This staff work collaboratively and closely together with the patient and their significant others and community supports to determine the care of the patient regarding their emotional, behavioral or mental health issues, taking into account the risks, strengths, resources and housing needs of the individual.
The LPN II , supervised by the RN, provides direct nursing care to patients with severe and persistent mental illness. The LPN II interfaces with the pharmacy to obtain correct medications, administers medications and treatments, monitors patient's responses to current medications and treatments and reports to the RN and or authorized prescriber as indicated. Other duties include patient and family education regarding medications an health and wellness, assisting the MD/RN with admissions and discharges and documentation of all care delivered in both electronic and paper format. The LPN II works closely with other unit staff, responding to medical and psychiatric emergencies, especially promoting safety by participating in early recognition, early intervention and de-escalation of patients who are displaying inadequate or dangerous coping skills or an acute exacerbation of their psychiatric symptomology.
Preferred: Given the populations served, bi-lingual and multi-lingual candidates are preferred. Previous employment in the human service field and specifically experience with mental illness or other disabilities in a hospital setting.
Corrigan MHC/ Fall River Site provides comprehensive services to adults and children. Programs include a 16-bed acute in-patient unit, Case Management, Day Treatment Program and Adult Community Clinical Services.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have at least one year of paraprofessional experience in the field of nursing as a licensed practical nurse.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a current and valid license as a practical nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
