Under the direct supervision of the specialty clinic nursing supervisor,
Assists with planning and managing patient care according to each patient's needs.
Assists in providing clinical nursing care as needed, as well as assisting physicians as needed in the specialty clinic.
Schedules and coordinates appointments for the specialty clinic as SCDC.
Also schedules and coordinates appointments to the appropriate outside physician's offices for procedures or other facilities by using the SCDC electronic health records (EHR) computer database.
Verifies that patient charts are updated promptly and accurately using the EHR.
Participates in discharge/release planning by outlining health care needs and providing instructions relevant to the health care needs, utilizing the EHR.
Collaborates with other correctional facility professionals to assure social, psychological and security needs of the inmate patients are met.
Provides weekly activity reports on nursing duties related to planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and/or implementing nursing and medical care services for the SCDC facilities.
Records clear, concise, and accurate information pertaining to all treatments performed in the SCDC EHR.
Develops, coordinates, and conducts specialized health care clinics and provides guidance and teaching directed at disease prevention.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
State of South Carolina minimum requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
SCDC minimum requirements:
Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing. Licensure as a licensed practical nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing. Must be BLS Certified. Must maintain 40 hours of in-service education per year to include CPR certification.
