Physical Therapy Assistant

Martine Center is actively seeking a Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant to work for our Skilled Nursing Facility in White Plains, NY.

PTA Duties Include:

  • Measuring & recording Residents motor function, strength and muscle performance.

  • Observe Residents and write progress reports.

  • Assist Residents in carrying out specific exercises.

  • Treat Residents with varieties of techniques, like stretching and massage.

  • Help Residents use necessary equipment and devices.

  • Educate Residents on how to exercise properly to strengthen muscle and improve mobility.

  • Maintains Resident confidence by keeping the information confidential.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.

  • Contributes to team effort.

PTA Requirements Include:

  • A graduate of an accredited PTA Program

  • Current New York State PTA License

  • Experience in long-term-care settings preferred

VIEW JOBS 8/30/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-28T00:00 Position Summary Assists in care and treatment of patients under the direct supervision of physical therapists, administers and monitors programs for infection control; performs tasks to maintain the department in a safe and orderly condition. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following: 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors 2. Assists the physical therapists in administering treatments, under their direct supervision. 3. Obtains equipment, material, supplies, and positions them appropriately for use. 4. Assists patients in ambulation when instructed by a therapist. 5. Assists patients to dress, undress. 6. Assists therapists to support, transfer, ambulate, and treat patients. 7. Provides coverage at the front desk in the absence of the receptionist/clerical coordinator. 8. Observes patients and their equipment and reports unusual symptoms or equipment failure the therapists. 9. Administers and monitors current methods of the infection control throughout the department. 10. Maintains and clean all equipment and materials used in patient treatment. 11. Maintains current inventory of materials and supplies to determine need for requisitions. 12. Maintains and organize storage and supply area in an orderly way. 13. Assists in the orientation, training of volunteers and students. 14. Attends department meetings and in-services when relevant and appropriate subjects are presented. 15. Duplicates materials as necessary. 16. Attends hospitals mandatory in-service programs. 17. Has computer skills/aptitude. 18. Function as a Constant Supervision sitter on the nursing units, when assigned, including patient-center tasks such as performing bed baths, skin care, toileting, feeding, measurement of I#O#s, oral care, safety surveillance, and communication with nursing staff. 19. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Education # Experience Requirements Education: High school diploma. Experience: Successful completion of orientation and on-the-job training according to department guidelines. Qualifications: Ability to interact with and assist therapists in the treatment of adults, and seniors. Open to working with infants, children, adolescents if needed.
