PTA Duties Include:

  • Measuring & recording Residents motor function, strength and muscle performance.

  • Observe Residents and write progress reports.

  • Assist Residents in carrying out specific exercises.

  • Treat Residents with varieties of techniques, like stretching and massage.

  • Help Residents use necessary equipment and devices.

  • Educate Residents on how to exercise properly to strengthen muscle and improve mobility.

  • Maintains Resident confidence by keeping information confidential.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.

  • Contributes to team effort.

PTA Requirements Include:

  • Graduate of an accredited PTA Program

  • Current New York State PTA License

  • Experience in long-term-care settings preferred

JOB SUMMARY: Functioning as a team leader, under the direction of the Associate Director of Residential Nursing, this position is responsible for providing direct supervision to the Medical Assistants and ensuring an environment in the home which encourages and facilitates optimal personal development and provides person directed services and ensures the health and safety of the individuals served. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * High School diploma or equivalent required * Over two years' experience working with people with developmental disabilities including one year of supervisory experience required. * CPR/First Aid/AED and SCIP Certification within the first six months of hire * Medication Certification required upon hire. * Possess a valid drivers license for the state in which the person resides, maintain a safe driving record per agency policy, and has the ability to operate wheelchair vans. Additionally, this person must maintain up to date insurance, vehicle registration, and vehicle inspection and provide proof thereof as they may be required to transport people that are served by the agency in their personal vehicle.
