Position located at the Hancock County Community Health Center, located in Sneedville, Tennessee

College of Nursing, Graduate Programs is accepting applications for a Licensed Mental Health Professional (LCSW, LPC, PMHNP). The position is for 22.5 hours per week.This position is responsible to the Project Director of the Rural Expansion Grant and is responsible for:

  • Interacting with patients as part of the primary care team;

  • Providing direct services to patients, families, and groups;

  • Providing individual and family counseling and engaging in crisis intervention in a primary care setting;

  • Working to address other social needs of patients and will utilize area referral sources for needed specialty care, hospitalization, or advance psychiatric assessments and treatments;

  • Identifying opportunities for developing integrated Behavioral Health Services in the primary care setting and serving as a resource to the provider staff;

  • experience working with an interdisciplinary team and the low-income population with a non-judgmental attitude;

  • Able to complete brief intervention assessments

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.

  • Knowledge of policy, principles, and practice of social work and/or psychology and standard counseling techniques, modalities or individual and group behaviors, socioeconomic factors and their relationship to mental health, and having available resources on local, state national levels for individuals with mental health and have available resources on local, state and national levels for individuals with mental health conditions.

  • Knowledge of managed healthcare programs, including TennCare, eligibility issues, and insurance reimbursement.

  • Knowledge of guidelines and methods used for applying for disability and for accessing vocational rehabilitation services.

  • Knowledge of systems involved in the provision of healthcare.

  • Ability to successfully counsel patients for improved mental and behavioral health.

  • Ability to provide professional counseling/talk therapy according to established standards of care.

  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and support.

  • Ability to interact professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds effectively.

  • Ability to with managers, co-workers, members of the public, and professional groups effectively.

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines effectively.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to consistently demonstrate a positive/proactive customer service attitude.

  • Ability to maintain ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusively, among all employees and members of the public.

  • Ability to work as an effective team member, function independently, and exercise sound judgment and initiative.

Required Qualifications

  • Current, unencumbered Tennessee Licensure as a LCSW, LPC, or PMHNP
