GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

In addition to performing routine installations, maintenance testing, calibrations, and repairing refrigeration systems, heating systems, air conditioning systems, related piping systems, and equipment prepares costing estimates to support a "Fee for Service"; or cost pay back special projects program, and in support of construction and renovation projects program.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Installs, maintains, tests and calibrates and makes repairs to refrigeration systems, heating systems, air conditioning systems, related piping systems and all related equipment.
2.Makes necessary adjustments and calibrations on pneumatic electric and electronic (DDC) control for HVAC systems.
3.Responds to all emergency situations as appropriate.
4.Reads and interprets blueprints (HVAC drawings) for various information such as pneumatic control and settings and locations.
5.Prepares material listing as required for work order requests and other routinely assigned tasks.
6.Responsibilities may involve participating in planning activity at departmental level or assisting in the development of solutions to specific problems.
7.Maintains a safe and clean work environment in areas of Engineering Department responsibility (areas as assigned).
8.Responds to phone calls from all areas of the hospital as assigned by supervisor or

dispatch.
9.Communicates with other employees and management on necessary information regarding mechanical systems including duct, pipe, controls and ventilating systems..
10. Maintains appropriate records of testing and/or assigned tasks.
11. Performs brazing and soldering on piping systems.
12. Installs pre-fabricated sheet metal duct work for HVAC systems.
13. Performs testing, balancing and adjustments for air distribution systems.
14. Maintain records of all HVAC equipment.
15. Prepare daily work schedules and assigns tasks to licensed and unlicensed HVAC, Technicians, ensuring efficient utilization of work hours and individual skills.
16. Performs the duties and responsibilities for the supervisor in his absence.
17. Meets with representative of requester department to assess and prepare estimates for construction, renovation, and/or modernization type projects.
18. Visits all work sites on a regular basis to ensure that all work is progressing on schedule.
19. Participates in establishing training programs relative to HVAC.
20. Functions as lead worker in multiple person project crews. As such, assumes, responsibility for team member task assignment, work quality and timely completion of project.
21. May be required to carry the on-call pager.
22. May be required to work weekends or rotating shifts.
23. Required to perform all other duties as assigned.
1.Must be able to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations at a level generally acquired through a high school education.
2.Three years of formal HVAC/refrigeration apprenticeship training required.
3.Licenser in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
4.Requires at least three to five years experience as a licensed HVAC technician.
5.Requires CFC Certification.

SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
1.Requires interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and to cooperate with staff throughout the hospital. Must be able to clearly explain HVAC/Refrigeration issues to other personnel.
2.Required the ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications.
3.Requires analytical skills to evaluate HVAC/Refrigeration systems and to develop appropriate solutions to problems.
4.Requires physical ability to lift over 30 lbs. (less than 15% of the time).
5.Requires technical knowledge of installation and repair of refrigeration equipment and knowledge of testing and calibrating systems.
6.Requires knowledge or related supplies and equipment.
7.Requires the ability to work independently. Refers to supervisory staff for clarification or exception to established policies and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
1.May occasionally (less than 20% of the time) get involved in a dirty and hazardous environment in the performance of duties.
2.May be required to work in a confined space or in a containment booth.
3.May be required to wear a respirator.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

In the absence of the HVAC supervisor, supervise and oversee shop activities.

GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Receiving general direction from the Security Operations Manager, incumbent ensures a safe and secure environment, provides protective service and response for protection of the people and property of the Hospital, is responsible for the overall supervision of his/her assigned shift, personnel, and shift operations. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Responsible for all security operations across assigned shift, including on and off-site facilities and staff, dispatch, concierge and patrol operations, and weekend staff and operations. * Responsible for direct supervision of Security Supervisors (up to ~7 FTE) assigned to shift, recommends various personnel actions including hiring, promotion, transfer and termination. Executes disciplinary action as necessary. * Overall responsibility for up to ~29 FTE on-site Security Officers, and ~12 FTE off-site Security Officers assigned to shift. * Ensures processes, policies and practices are interpreted and applied consistently and effectively across assigned shift; ensures accountability and compliance with all current and applicable state and federal laws, hospital policies and procedures, rules and regulations. * Assists Security Operations Manager in managing daily operations across all shifts; provides support to the Operations Manager on matters as directed. * In the absence of parking and commuter services leadership, serves as parking management representative. * Identifies training needs and conducts training, certification programs and * Manages and audits the lost & found program and valuables intake/release. * Processes and assists in processing payroll via the Kronos system. * Serves on assigned committees and attends meetings on behalf of the department as directed; understands and keeps abreast of industry trends. * Performs all duties of a Security Supervisor and Officer in addition to duties outlined above. * If sworn as a Special State Police Officer, performs all the duties outlined in the BWH Police Officer position in addition to the above. * Performs additional duties as assigned. I will Extend myself QUALIFICATIONS: * Minimum of an Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field required. A strong educational background (Bachelor's degree or above) in criminal justice or related field is preferred. A combination of experience and education will also be considered. * A minimum of five years of experience in Security, Law Enforcement or Military required with three years in a supervisory position required. Ten years of experience with five years of experience in a supervisory capacity in same preferred. * Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check. * Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License * The ability to be licensed as a Special State Police Officer under the Commonwealth of MA General Laws Chapter 22 C, section 63 strongly preferred. If licensed, must consistently meet all training and other requirements for continued licensure. * Must obtain and maintain required certifications in the following programs (training provided by department): o CPR/AED/First Aid o Narcan (Naloxone) Training o AVADE/HDTS De-Escalation Training o International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security (IAHSS) Supervisor Certification (Includes Basic, Advanced, and Supervisor certifications) within 1 year of hire. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Physically must be able to lift 50 pounds. Ability to stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours. Strong sight and hearing abilities needed in order to effectively deal with diverse and emergency situations. Capacity to use appropriate force to overcome, arrest or restrain someone if necessary. Each Operations Supervisor must be able to perform each task in the functional assessment outlined below upon hire (within the first 90 days) and annually: 3 Minute Step Test * Measures the heart rate in the recovery period following three minutes of stepping. * Stand with the step in front of you. Begin by stepping up and down the step in cadence with the metronome. Continue with this exercise for three minutes. Then you will be asked to sit down in and your heart rate will be recorded after one minute of rest. Step, Bend, and Crawl * Measures mobility and coordination. * Stand in front of the hurdle. Start by stepping over the hurdle, bending and crawling under the table, and stepping over the second hurdle. Reverse direction and repeat the sequence. Stretcher Carry * Measures the ability to assist lifting a stretcher. * You and a partner will stand at either end of the stretcher that is loaded with approximately 150 lbs in weight. Bend with your legs with your back straight and grasp the stretcher. Straighten your legs to lift the stretcher, then reverse to put the stretcher back down. Pull and Drag * Measures upper body strength * Take firm hold onto the belts and drag the 150 lb. sled 10 feet across the room and reverse directions back to the starting position. Balance Walk * Measures balance. * Start at the end of the 1 inch wide tape. When prompted to start, step on the tape, alternating with each foot until you reach the end of the tape. Your foot must be in contact with the tape on each step. Stair Climb * The stair climb measures the ability to climb stairs at a quick pace. * Starting at the bottom of the stairway, on the command Go, the watch is started and you must walk up four flights of stairs at a quick pace. At the top of the stairs, you will need to take a card and walk quickly down the four flights of stairs to the starting point and return the card to your proctor.
