Job duties:

This is professional services work of a managerial nature in planning, coordinating, directing, and providing clinical services to patients of Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center. This position is responsible for clinical staff deployment throughout the hospital on any given day, program services withing the clinical service department, staffing, reviewing clinical interventions to be implement use with patients on caseloads, ordering of equipment and tools needed within the clinical service department, oversight of granting vacation time in order to ensure patient services are not negatively impacted by staff absences. This position is also responsible for the hiring process of clinical service vacancies, the assignment of group facilitators determining the effectiveness of groups delivered by LCSWs/LCPCs, and determine if any policy or procedures are required to guide the work of the LCSW's/LCPCs.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Provides direct patient evaluation, individual and group treatment.

  • Plans for patient evaluation and treatment, attends multi-disciplinary reports and documents provision of treatment.

  • Coordinates with group facilitators, develops group schedules, ensures daily group facilitation is covered.

  • Creates methods to organize, communicate, track, analyze and report patient group sign up and utilization.

  • Provides direct supervision and mentoring to staff.

  • Communicates information between the Director of Psychological Services and subordinate staff to ensure current status is understood, issues are known, and new information is communicated.

  • Research, gather, and review data related to group program design and implementation. Ongoing collaboration with the Director of Psychological Services and the Director of Therapeutic Services to implement program improvement strategies related to effective and efficient group treatment.

  • Attends hospital committees as assigned (Environment of Care, Patient Safety), completes environment of care audits as assigned, audits treatment plans as assigned.

  • Completes departmental payroll and maintains time off calendar

  • Submits work orders, orders equipment and materials to be sure treatment spaces and resources remain in ready state for safe patient care

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: (These are required to successfully perform the work assigned.)

  • Knowledge of leadership principles.

  • Knowledge of mental illness, learning disabilities and chemical addiction.

  • Knowledge of CMS and JC requirements related to treatment planning, provision of active treatment and documentation.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members, patients, and associates.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in social service or mental health/developmental disabilities programs and a Bachelors Degree. At least three (3) years of the required experience must be in a supervisory and/or administrative capacity. Equivalent related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
