Hours

A predetermined 7 hour work day 8:30am-4pm Monday through Friday. Available to report to work at any branch office, as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as an assistant to resolve issues, answer questions, and handle correspondence with customers and carriers.

  • Prepare and process underwriting documents, including proposals, applications, policies, and renewals.

  • Assist clients with payment terms according to established guidelines.

  • Effectively manage multiple tasks while ensuring accuracy and quality in your work.

  • Prepare premiums, invoicing, and commissions; maintain organized computer files for follow-up actions.

  • Provide assistance to underwriting and administration as needed, and back up reception duties when required.

  • Excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication are essential.

  • Punctuality and the ability to work independently while following management direction.

  • Be driven to meet customer needs and handle difficult situations with professionalism.

  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Maintain a friendly demeanor and professional appearance while fostering a supportive team environment.

  • Willingness to assist with phone duties and work at different locations as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Must hold a valid NJ property and casualty license.

  • Familiarity with Windows is preferred.

Communication Skills:

  • Clear verbal and written communication.

  • Active listening and effective response to inquiries.

  • Proficient in editing for grammar and clarity, and presenting numerical data.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and basic accounting concepts.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Skilled at solving practical problems and interpreting various instructions.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel preferred.

Other Skills:

  • Typing speed of 35-40 wpm.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and operate office equipment effectively.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, use hands, and communicate verbally.

  • Occasionally lift/move up to 10 pounds and perform tasks requiring close vision.

  • Must use a telephone headset.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise level with minimal travel, mostly phone and correspondence-based. Occasional travel for educational purposes may be required.

Salary range is $40,000 - 47,320 per year, based on experience.
