Location: Kelver Library, 404 E. Front Street, Byers, CO 80103
Reports to: Supervisor
Pay : $15.63-$19.50
Library Hours: Monday/Wed/Friday 8am-5pm Tuesday/Thursday 8am-8pm Saturday 9am-5pm
Schedule for this position: 40 hours- Full time- Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Thursday 11am- 8pm and every third Saturday 9am-5pm
Role: Assists patrons in the use of the library by delivering outstanding and personalized service in all areas.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
50% PATRON ASSISTANCE
Greets patrons and provides proactive assistance
Provides personalized advisory services to patrons
Assists patrons with library account maintenance (check out, placing holds, fines)
Helps patrons with general reference and tech assistance
Provides handoff to various other specialists when appropriate
Promotes library services, programs and offerings
30% MATERIAL PROCESSING
Processes materials, shelves, handles holds
Prepares for and presents engaging programs and outreach activities (e.g. internal programs, school visits, and community events) by welcoming patrons to the program; answering questions and providing additional resources; and, asking for program delivery feedback and thanking patrons for attending
Prepares and presents storytime in an engaging manner according to the Arapahoe Library District Storytime Competencies Document
Two to five years of similar or related experience, preferred.
Bachelor's degree, preferred.
Ability to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, required.
For storytime providers, knowledge of the new Every Child Ready to Read early literacy skills and practices, and participating in ongoing early literacy training.
For program providers, handling programming questions and troubleshooting, including scheduling, marketing, and communicating with supervisor.
Knowledge of informational databases, preferred. Intermediate technology skills for Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook, required.
Intermediate skills in Sierra, preferred. Ability to be mobile 100% of the time.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and push a loaded wheeled book truck weighing up to 100 pounds and ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted, regularly and up to 50 pounds assisted occasionally required.
Ability to focus on the customer, show integrity, be inclusive, enjoy learning and have fun.
Ability to exercise confidence and excitement in the vast technological and online resources the Library District has available.
Ability to provide intermediate advisory services to patrons in all collection formats and genres, and advanced advisory services in one area of choice.
