Johns County Public Library System is seeking a Full-Time Library Programs Coordinator. This position is responsible for providing specialized services in support of program development and implementation and community outreach for the Main Library and Library system located in beautiful St.

Johns County, Florida. This position works 40 hours weekly Tuesday-Saturday, occasional evenings.

St.

Johns County Public Library System (SJCPLS) encourages a love of literature, the arts, and lifelong learning by providing a variety of information, resources, and entertainment to the community.

SJCPLS serves all areas of St.

Johns County, including St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra Beach, Fruit Cove, and Hastings.

The Library System has six branches, two bookmobiles, and offers books-by-mail service. In addition to books, periodicals, and online databases, SJCPLS offers computer access, notary services, Inter-Library Loan, access to a Seed Library, test proctoring, and many volunteer opportunities. The Library System also offers a dynamic range of programming for adults, teens, and children.

The Main Library of the St.

Johns County Public Library System seeks a full-time (40 hours weekly) Library Programs Coordinator to aid in the daily operations of programming duties primarily for Youth Services. Prior classroom or programming experience with youth is required.

The ideal Library Programs Coordinator candidate must possess St.

Johns County's core values of compassion, innovation, and trustworthiness and must work well in a collaborative team environment. Some of the specific tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting patrons of all ages providing support to the Main Library Programming Department by implementing classes and events, setting up and breaking down from events, and preparing for all classes and events.

  • Providing reader's advisory, reference and general information.

  • Collects statistics, as assigned.

  • Participates in reference activities and general inquiry.

  • May act as the Supervisor in Charge on nights and weekends.

  • Assists in circulation functions.

St.

Johns County Public Library System staff work cooperatively between all branches and bookmobiles to provide needed public services throughout St.

Johns County. Staff are subject to work assignments at other library branches, county locations, and outreach events on occasional, semi-permanent, or permanent bases depending on staffing and public need.

Candidates for the Library Programs Coordinator are encouraged to apply if they meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification. Bachelor's degree from accredited university or college is preferred.

  • Must have two years, paid and progressively responsible library, classroom or programming experience.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to serve others.

  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.

  • Must be able to operate a computer.
