TITLE: Library Paraprofessional
JOB STATUS: FLSA Overtime Eligible
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
DEPARTMENT: Academics and Student Learning
A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
ONE of the following requirements is needed for compliance:
Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester or 72 quarter hours as verified by college transcript from an accredited institution of higher education); OR
Obtain an associate (or higher) degree from an accredited institution of higher education (defined as any associate degree program from an accredited institution of higher education); OR
Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment -- (i) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing and mathematics; or (ii) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in readiness for reading, writing, and mathematics.
Good human relations with an ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
Experience working with children preferred.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Organizes and manages parent volunteers in the library.
Performs tasks specific to technology and technology integration.
Collaborates with the Library Aide to guide their role and responsibility.
Collaborates with teams to provide special events for students.
Maintains accurate, current, and easily accessible records.
Assists students in the completion of classroom activities.
Assists teachers in routine classroom and school activities, implementation of services, behavior plans, student assessment, playground and lunch duty.
Assists in the preparation of classroom materials and displays.
Accommodates for individual students as needed.
Maintains a positive learning environment in the library.
Collaborates with staff to meet the needs of students who require intervention.
Works in collaboration with teams to conduct Book Fairs.
Provides regular supervision and assists instruction under the guidance of a licensed educator of students in grades 1-5 as part of a related arts class rotation.
Facilitates student participation and completion of pre-established instructional modules.
May travel between buildings during the work day as necessary.
Collaborates with the building teams to select and remove materials.
Utilizes and manages an online integrated library system.
Participates in professional growth activities.
Ensures the safety of students.
Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
191 Days (183 days, 8 paid holidays); 7 hours per day excluding lunch to be established by Supervisor. Salary as provided by the Negotiated Agreement. Work year to be established by the Board of Education.
SALARY:$21.95/hr. - $24.19/hr.
