Job Description

This position is responsible for providing instruction designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students through the library media center and other systems or programs to prepare them to be successful citizens in college and career. This position is responsible for providing the leadership and expertise required to ensure that the library media center and program are aligned with the mission, goals, and objectives of the school and district.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Consistently uses effective and productive soft skills with all school district stakeholders.

  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.

  • Facilitate the library media center and program as integral components of the school's instructional program.

  • Create a school "learning commons" by developing and administering an integrated school library media program.

  • Instruct and support students and staff in the effective use of the media center, information and technology literacy skills, and use of equipment.

  • Evaluate, select and procure print and digital resources and related equipment.

  • Collaborate with leaders and staff to develop policies and procedures to ensure efficient operation, services, and facility use for a 21st-century school library media program.

  • Implement a results-oriented information and technology literacy skills curriculum integrated with subject area curriculum through partnerships with teachers.

  • Provide leadership and guidance for effectively integrating technologies with instruction to create 21st-century instructional strategies.

  • Teaches District approved curriculum daily.

  • Implement school or district curricular goals.

  • Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil daily.

  • Participates in professional development as directed, including but not limited to adult learning around the Science of Reading and job-embedded curriculum development

  • Develop knowledge of curriculum in all subject areas and content areas to ensure the library media program is continually integrated into instruction

  • Instruct teachers, administrators, and other staff in the use of new information technologies.

  • Recommend and procure resources for staff for use in meeting their instructional objectives.

  • Fully participate in the school's Response to Intervention system and program as directed by leaders

  • Full participate in assigned professional development to assist in meeting students' needs

  • Implement the Science of Reading throughout the library media center and in other interactions with students

  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.

  • Teaches District approved curriculum daily.

  • Creates an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

  • Establishes clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, etc, and communicates these objectives to students.

  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities daily.

  • Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.

  • Works as a team member on building level committee and collegial activities within the building and District, including, but not limited to, the school's 1:1 Implementation Team and other technology-focused teams.

  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.

  • Maintain personal safety of students

  • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

  • Ensure that substitutes will have all information necessary for effective instruction

  • Follow state, district, and school policies and expectations

  • Other duties as assigned.
