Title: Library Facilitator
Reports to: Building Principal & Library Media Specialist
Position Summary: The Library Assist will help support students and educators in implementing rigorous- standards-based- technology rich instruction as well as assist students and staff to make full use of the services and resources of a digital rich library to promote College and Career Readiness Skills.
Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma
Desire and ability to work with students and staff
A willingness to cooperate with and follow the directions of the school principal
Ability to plan- organize- and see that activities are completed
Excellent written and oral skills
Proficient in Microsoft and Google applications
Preferred:
Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
Library experience
Essential Functions:
Ability to facilitate the personal- social- and intellectual development of students.
Ability to establish a positive learning environment.
Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.
Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.
Ability to react to change in an instructional and productive manner- and handle other tasks as assigned.
Ability to be mobile in the library..
Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the district.
Ability to work with technology/computer systems.
Ability to model commitment and dedication to work.
Ability to work independently and without supervision- and complete work in an efficient manner.
General Responsibilities:
Check in/out materials
Review & documents conditions of library books
Processes new orders
Maintains Shelves
Updates book displays and possibly wall displays
Monitors students in library
Communicates effectively with all members of the school district and community.
Works effectively with community organizations.
Reacts to change productively and handles other tasks as assigned.
Supports the value of education.
Supports the mission and vision of USD #458.
Keeps abreast of new information- best practices- innovative ideas- and techniques.
Adheres to all district health and safety policies- including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
Other duties as assigned by the Principal- or other Administrative Staff.
Physical Requirements: Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in the work environment. Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job is required.

Term of Employment: 10 months (175 Days); Academic school year as assigned.
Evaluation: Performance effectiveness will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Kansas Statutes and Board of Education Policy.

Basehor-Linwood Unified School District 458 serves students and families in a 90 square mile area of southern Leavenworth County, Kansas. We currently have 8 district attendance centers. Our Early Learning Center for Childcare and Pre-K opened for the 2020-21 school year in August. K-5 buildings are located in Bonner Springs, Basehor and the Glenwood Ridge subdivision. A new K-5 building, located in Basehor, opened in the Fall 2021. Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 attend Basehor-Linwood Middle School in Basehor, near the center of the district. Basehor-Linwood High School, located in Basehor, is a 5A school, serving students in grades 9 through 12.
BLHS was named a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School. In addition, the district operates Basehor-Linwood Virtual School, an internet-based school serving approximately 250 K-12 students statewide instructed by Basehor-Linwood teachers.
Special Education services are provided by the Tonganoxie/Basehor-Linwood Special Education Cooperative located in Basehor.
