Library Director IV

Department/Location: New Rochelle Public Library

Primary Job Duties: Serves as head of a library of system serving a population of 50,000 to 250,000.

This is an administrative position involving responsibility for all library functions. The work involves carrying out board policy as determined by the library board. General supervision is exercised over the work of other library personnel.

Works with City School District on budget issues and library budget vote. Does related work as required.

Qualifications

Eight (8) years of satisfactory public library experience, during which a consistent pattern of increasing responsibility has been demonstrated; PLUS five (5) years of which shall have been in an administrative capacity. A Masters degree in Librarianship from a library school that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department.

Special Requirements

Eligibility for a New York State Public Librarian's professional certificate at time of application, and possession of the certificate at time of appointment
