Library Customer Service Student Assistant

Job Summary

Work where you study! Student Employment programs at Lake-Sumter State College are intended to provide real-world job experiences for students, including an application and interview processes, on-the-job training and experiences, and professional soft skills.

LSSC student employee supervisors will work with student employees on their work schedules to ensure that education is the priority.

The Library Student Assistant will provide assistance for library and information commons service in an academic facility.

Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's values of learning, people, student success, forward thinking, commitment to excellence, accessibility, diversity, partnerships, and sound management practices.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Check materials in and out at the service desk using circulation software, place holds for materials.

• Field questions at service desk, answering phones and providing directional answers.

• Assist library patrons with automated pay-to-print stations.

• Shelve books, periodicals, and archival material; read shelves.

• Assist students with instructor course reserve materials.

• Provide assistance with Microsoft Office applications as needed.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Education

• Must be a current LSSC student.

• Previous experience as a library page or assistant is preferred.

Lake-Sumter State College provides limited benefits for part-time employees, not including student employees, who work at least 20 hours per week.
