The purpose of the class is to perform a variety of responsible library duties for the Hampton Public  Library.   This class works under general supervision according to set procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • One (1) year of experience performing paraprofessional library duties or closely related experience.

  • Specialized courses/training equivalent to the completion of one (1) year of college in library science, literature, or a closely related field preferred.

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.

  • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

  • May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.

  • May require local travel and use of a personal vehicle.
