This is important, part-time, summer, non-professional library support work assisting in various phases of municipal library operations. Work involves assisting the Youth & Family Services and Adult Services teams that serve Library customers city-wide in presenting the summer reading program for youth, adults, and families.
Work includes answering basic informational questions from community members, assisting with the preparation of program materials, assisting library program presenters, and helping to shelve and sort library materials. The position requires the exercise of outstanding customer service skills, including courtesy, discretion, and tact, in a fast-paced environment, often while multi-tasking. An employee in this class is expected to perform independently following a reasonable amount of training and orientation.
The work schedule may vary, and assignments are primarily at a Community Library, but will include assignments throughout the library system as scheduling necessitates. The hours will include days, evenings, and weekends. This is 8-week summer employment, with a variable start date from late May to early July and ending late July to early September.
Salary: $16.84 - $22.93 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
Have the ability to travel between library facilities as needed.
Have some previous experience working with the public.
Be skilled in computer use.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
Have library experience, particularly working with children and/or young adults.
Be skilled in library technology.
Have some knowledge of business English, spelling, arithmetic, and library services and materials.
