Job Summary

Performs routine clerical procedures and patron services in the McKay Music Library. Provides patron service in assigned area which will be to tutor undergraduate students enrolled in music theory and musicianship classes as needed.

Responsibilities
1.Provides patron service in assigned area such as answering questions via phone, email, or in person.
2.Checks various materials in and out of library.
3.Assists patrons with computer and hard copy searches.
4.Collects money and produces receipts for fines and materials.
5.Produces spine labels for library materials.
6.Enters new arrivals and denotes the status of various items into the library's automated system.
7.Receives, sorts and delivers mail.
8.Performs area related clerical duties such as filing, typing, shelving and reorganizing new and old books, as well as general cleaning of assigned area.
9.Ability to tutor beginning students as needed in Theory and Aural Skills. Completion of a music theory and musicianship curriculum; previous tutoring experience; or, recommendation from a faculty member in the School of Music.

Minimum Qualifications

Six months clerical or customer service experience required; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.

Ability to tutor beginning students as needed in Theory and Aural Skills. Completion of a music theory and musicianship curriculum; previous tutoring experience; or, recommendation from a faculty member in the School of Music.
