Grand Valley State University (GVSU) Libraries seeks applications for a Grand Rapids Libraries Manager to work at the GVSU Downtown Grand Rapids Campus Libraries and a Mary Idema Pew Library Manager to work at the main library located on GVSU's main campus in Allendale.
Under the direction of the department director and in collaboration with a department management team, each position manages and supports the operations, access services, and public services for its respective location.
The Managers are responsible for learning about and addressing the site-specific needs of their Libraries and supervising the staff in implementing public and access services initiatives. The manager locally implements, and customizes when necessary, access and public services policies, guidelines, and strategies in alignment with departmental direction. With an emphasis on ensuring inclusive, accessible, quality user services and in close collaboration with the Director of Public and Access Services, each Manager provides input on the strategy and philosophy of access services and public services.
These positions supervise, schedule, and support full-time professional staff and serve as a member of the Library Access Support Services management team. These positions are deemed essential and are expected to report to work when GVSU shifts to remote status.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree or 5 years of equivalent supervision experience
Supervisory experience or demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, processes, and workflows
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communications with clarity, respect, and empathy
Demonstrated commitment and experience providing inclusive, accessible user-centered public service
Ability to successfully navigate change and work collaboratively through ambiguity
Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and to promote teamwork among colleagues
Commitment to inclusion, equity, and to serving the needs of a diverse team population
Ability to adapt quickly to solve problems in a dynamic service environment
Preferred
Experience working in a library setting
Experience with project management involving multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated innovative problem-identification and creative problem-solving skills
Experience in process improvement and management
Experience in complex scheduling

Salary range: $52,000-60,000
Standard Hours for this position: Monday-Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm with expectation to occasionally flex, be on call every other weekend, and provide remote support
