As an Elementary School Librarian/Media Specialist, your core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Curriculum & Instruction:
Collaborate with the instructional team in the design, implementation, and evaluation of a curriculum that incorporates the Alabama Computer Science and Digital Literacy standards.
Develop, implement, and assess stimulating learning activities or complete units of instruction that align with these standards.
Assist students and staff in locating, interpreting, and utilizing information across a variety of formats, promoting digital literacy.
Generate instructional resources that are in alignment with educational goals and cater to student needs.
Match students with literature that caters to their interests and developmental levels.
Organize, execute, and assess in-service education programs that incorporate digital literacy and computer science principles.
Encourage the application of information literacy skills, digital literacy, and basic computer science understanding among students and staff.
Utilize global information resources to meet diverse user needs, demonstrating the potential of computer science in accessing worldwide data.
Comply with copyright laws and confidentiality norms, while safeguarding user's intellectual freedom.
Design, budget, implement, maintain, and evaluate a comprehensive library media program that includes digital literacy and computer science components.
Oversee the operation of the library media center and promote usage of the collection, both physical and digital.

Uphold the school's values, student management policies, and culture.
Undertake additional duties as assigned by appropriate school administrators.
Employment Qualifications:
Education
Experience
Must be considered highly qualified (Alabama teacher certification in the appropriate content area and/or significant work experience in content area)
At least two years of teaching experience (preferred)
Experience working in an educationally and/or economically disadvantaged community (highly preferred)
