Under general direction, the Librarian provides reference, basic instruction, reader's advisory services, and collection development services. General assignments include selecting and gathering library materials; enforcing library policies and procedures; responding to complaints from patrons; and ensuring safety of patrons and staff.

Or, if assigned to Technical Services, duties primarily involve cataloging; providing subject analysis for items in the library's collections; creating subject-based call numbers and subject headings using standardized terminology; working with the Library Services Manager to configure catalogs and databases to provide optimal indexing and display of bibliographic records; performing copy cataloging through the Online Computer Library Center; designing and modifying cataloging and metadata workflow processes; transferring bibliographic records to the library's Integrated Library System; training and mentoring cataloging support staff; and creating efficient workflows to catalog and process library materials. Possession of a Master of Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited program and one year professional library or related experience required. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills and supervisory experience are highly beneficial.

  • Employees that successfully complete one year of employment without

documented attendance or disciplinary issues will receive an additional one-time payment of $1000.

  • The maximum amount of hiring incentive that an individual employee may receive is $3,000.
