Description

Iona Liberty Partnership Program, funded by a grant from the New York State Education Department, invites applications for the position of Mentor to work with students from the Yonkers Public schools on behalf of LPP. This is a full-time, 12 month part-time position that reports to the Director of Liberty Partnerships Program.

Mentors will be assigned to work with students in grades 5-8 as well as high schools, and will provide a variety of services, including, but not limited to, academic support, advisement, leadership, assessment, mentoring, and supervision. Services for students will be provided during the school day and after school.

Mentors will provide tutoring; assist in-service teachers and counselors, assist in learning and career readiness components of the program, assist in enrollment recruiting; and will maintain communication between school administrators and director. Mentors will work in school buildings between 10- 20 hours per week. Mentors will assist the Director as needed, and will be available for regularly scheduled meetings and training sessions

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Education: Undergraduate Degree in Education, School Psychology or related field.

Experience: Working with children; Providing Academic Tutoring or Support

Specialized Skills: Proficient in Excel, experience with database, organized, excellent communicator.
