We are looking for a candidate that is self-motivated, adaptable, energetic, and a quick learner to join our Lexus of Stevens Creek Team as our Human Resources Generalist! We seek a best practices individual who will uphold the values of the Penske Way and will be fully committed to supporting our team members and the business. This position is a great opportunity for someone who has prior HR experience but is interested in continuing to develop and refine their skills. The ideal candidate will have the capacity to manage multiple priorities such as talent acquisition, performance, employee relations, and working on other key HR projects. The Human Resources Generalist Position has a Pay Scale consisting of the following elements and ranges. Wages include Base Salary of $75,000-$95,000, depending on experience.

The first phase of our interviewing and selection process will consist of a video interview via SparkHire. If selected for the first phase, you will receive an email invitation to complete the video interview.

  • This position will be the main HR presence and is 100% on site at Lexus of Stevens Creek in San Jose, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies and programs

  • Monitoring compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws as well as company policies and procedures

  • Supporting recruitment initiatives and participating in recruiting and on-boarding efforts

  • Overseeing pre-employment procedures such as new hire orientations and training programs

  • Reviews Company website and applicant tracking system for accuracy and current information

  • Develop and deliver training to managers and team members on a variety of management and customer service related topics; including delivering human resources policies to clarify purpose, goals, and seek compliance and understanding

  • Supports and champion Employee Opinion Survey process ensuring proper follow-up and action planning from management staff

  • Leads the performance management process for management team and team members (coaching, counseling, career development, performance appraisals)

  • Helps drive Human Resource compliance by ensuring standardized and consistent Human Resource practices and policies are followed

  • Assists in promptly addressing employment-related complaints by completing thorough investigations as directed by Senior HR Manager and VP / General Counsel and taking the appropriate next steps to resolve the issues in a fair and equitable manner

  • Advises on compliance with state/federal laws, benefit laws, company policies, procedures and guidelines. Keep all Company communication boards updated with proper compliance posters and necessary Team Member communications

  • Maintains and make necessary updates to employee handbook

  • Provides compensation guidance: pay for performance culture and support compensation planning process with pay plans

  • Assists in managing and maintaining the Employee Rewards Program

  • Provides support to team members for benefits, workers compensation and leave of absence questions. Overall understanding and ability to track FMLA, STD and other leaves

  • Prepares and maintain accurate records, files and reports, including responsibility for maintaining personnel records

  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing to all levels of staff and management

  • Demonstrate skills critical for managerial success including leadership, decisiveness, flexibility, sound business judgment and have the ability to work at all levels of the organization

  • Assist GM with Team Member activities that are fun, engaging and enjoyable for all to participate

  • Ability to travel to other Company locations in order to facilitate trainings and participate in HR projects and initiatives

  • Provides other human resources services and support functions as needed

Qualifications

  • 3 years minimum of HR Specialist or Jr. HR Generalist experience; customer service/luxury retail background preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or related field

  • Bilingual Spanish, multilingual skills highly desired

  • Candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, be organized, action oriented, see big vision and collaborative with all levels of organization

  • Strategic short/long term thinking capabilities with a focus on providing excellent employee and guest service

  • Proven leadership and change management skills to direct performance of Team Members and achieve desired results

  • Ability to conduct and oversee needs assessments with well-developed project management skills

  • Must have strong computer and database application skills (Excel, Word, Power-Point, etc.)
