VIEW JOBS 11/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-12T00:00 <div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">Global Empire, LLC (GHG) is a Healthcare Staffing Company specialized in providing reliable and qualified healthcare professionals for Government contracts nationwide. </span></span><br />  </div> <div><span style="font-size:14px;"><span style="font-family:georgia,serif;">We are seeking Expanded Functions Dental Assistant services for an available contract opportunity to provide services to the inmate population at the Federal Medical Center, Lexington, located in Lexington, Kentucky.<br /> <br /> <strong>Available Position(s): </strong>Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA)<br /> <br /> <strong>Place of Performance: </strong>The Dental Assistant services will be performed on-site in the Health Services Department of the Federal Medical Center located at 3301 Leestown Road Lexington, Kentucky. Services may be performed in the Dental Clinic of the main Medical facility or at the Dental Clinic at the Satellite Prison Camp facility also located at the same address.<br /> <br /> <strong>Facility Information:</strong> The Federal Medical Center (FMC) in Lexington, Kentucky is an administrative facility for male inmates. The facility also has an adjacent minimum security satellite camp for female inmates. FMC Lexington is located 7 miles north of Lexington on U.S. Highway 421.<br /> <br /> <strong>Work Schedule:  </strong>The Dental Assistant will normally work Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), normally between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with a 30 minute unpaid lunch period.The facility is expected to require an average of seven(7) hours per day, four (4) days per week. This would be an average of 28 hours per week but may need additional sessions up to 30 hours on occasion. The Dental Assistant’s schedule shall not exceed 30 hours per week. The actual hours of work will be determined by the Health Services Administrator. The facility expects to contract for one Dental Assistant at this location. The Government may adjust the number of hours worked per contractor based on changing trends in staffing levels, inmate population, and need for services.<br /> <br /> <strong>Period of Performance: </strong>from date of hire until September 30, 2023 and it can be extended for an additional 6 months.<br /> <br /> <strong>Description of Duties: </strong><br /> Assists Dental Officer in dental specialty sections, such as restorative, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, examinations and triage of emergency cases.<br /> Retrieves patient’s records, escorts patient to dental treatment area, seats and prepares patient for Dental Officer, assists by preparing dental instruments, dental materials, drugs and medications, passes instruments, retracts tissues, irrigates oral cavity, and helps to maintain a dry field. The contractor will also observe patient’s responses, assist patient for dismissal, give patient post-operative instruction, and then prepare the treatment area for the next patient.<br /> Assist in dental health education, makes necessary entries on dental treatment chart (both electronic and paper records), and records dental charting. The contractor is expected to use the Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).<br /> Responsible for teaching inmates the skills necessary to obtain a certificate in chair side dental assisting. This consists of instruction in the basics of four handed dentistry (e.g. preparation of materials, passing instruments, dental charting, saliva ejection).<br /> <br /> <strong>Expanded clinical duties include but are not limited to:​</strong><br /> Triage dental emergencies, obtains diagnostic quality intraoral and extra oral radiographs using standard and digital radiography while minimizing radiation exposure and processes and saves digital radiographs to patient’s electronic and paper medical record. Placing and removing dental packings and removing sutures.<br /> Placing and finishing all types of dental restorations, temporary and permanent, including bases and liners. Making primary impressions and pouring of casts. Preparing, logging, and shipping of dental cases to outside dental lab. Fabricates, adjusts and repairs dental prosthesis and appliances under supervision. Tooth shade selection for composites and dentures. Placing and removing rubber dams.<br /> Responsible for the disinfection and sterilization procedures for the dental department. Ensures disinfection and sterilization techniques are in place (e.g. spore testing) and followed pursuant to State and Federal guidelines. Ensures all surfaces, instruments, and dental equipment are properly disinfected and or sterilized. Ensures routine maintenance and testing of sterilization equipment as well as documentation of said maintenance and testing as well as any corrective action. Prepares reports for the Infection Control department. Manages contaminated biological/hazardous waste (e.g. needles and syringes) for the dental clinic and ensures proper disposal and maintains logs associated with storage and disposal.<br /> <br /> <strong>Administrative duties include but are not limited to:</strong><br /> Answering phones, manage ingoing and outgoing mail, maintaining files, preparing treatment schedules, taking inventory, preparing purchase forms for needed supplies, stocking supplies, purging expired product, compiling reports, and other administrative duties for the Chief Dental Officer.<br /> Ensures accurate invoicing and billing from dental lab, performing oversight on MSDS for accuracy, preparing charting forms and also counts and logs needles and instruments twice daily. Any broken instruments will be prepared for survey and disposal if needed by the Dental Assistant.<br /> Responsible for maintenance and minor repair of all dental equipment. Contractor shall inspect and maintain equipment regularly as well as record all maintenance, repairs, and corrective action in logs<br /> <br /> <strong>Attire: </strong>The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved).  The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing. <br /> <br /> <strong>Education and Experience </strong><br /> The Dental Assistant must be registered and possess a license in any state within the U.S. or possess a letter from the Kentucky Board of Dentistry that states your training meets or exceeds Kentucky requirements.<br /> 2 years of experience providing Expanded Duties Dental Assistant services is required.<br /> A dental assistant must have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) that meets or exceeds the guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA).<br /> Bilingual oral communication skills are desirable.<br /> The Dental Assistant must be totally familiar with four-handed dentistry with respect to all technical methods and procedures as practiced in this institution.<br /> Must have an excellent working knowledge of instruments, types of composite materials, and methods used for the purpose of making impressions.<br /> Dental Assistant must be able to recognize the more common types of oral and tissue inflammations.<br /> Must have knowledge of oral and dental anatomy and must be able to chart the anatomical findings. Dental Assistant will be required to assist the dentist in oral surgery, operative procedures, prosthetics, radiology, endodontics, and preventive dentistry. In cases when the dental officer(s) is absent from the institution, incumbent will consult and aid physician assistants and/or physicians in diagnosis of dental problems.<br /> Must have a working knowledge of commonly used medication and doses for dental infections and pain as preferred by the dentist.<br /> Must possess skills in expanded dental functions to permit direct patient care by applying rubber dams, placing matrix bands, inserting and contouring filling materials, fabricating and cementing temporary crowns, placing surgical dressings, removing sutures, providing postoperative instructions, instructing patients on proper dental disease control techniques, and taking impressions for study casts.<br /> must maintain knowledge of BOP safety and security regulations and maintain control of dental drugs, and instruments.<br /> Must be able to identify those patients with special needs (i.e. medically at risk, AIDS, etc.) and implement appropriate courses of action to best aid their treatment and generate minimal disruption to the operation of the dental clinic.<br /> Must have command of communication skills to avoid or control situations that may arise in dealing with difficult procedures and/or challenging patients.<br /> <br /> <strong>Restrictions on Contract Workers </strong><br /> The contractor shall not supervise inmates, supervise Bureau of Prisons staff, participate in inmate accountability, requisitions, sign for or pickup supplies, formulate policy or procedures, or attend meetings, staff recalls, staff functions(e.g. dress down days), or be a member of the Employee’s Club.<br /> <br /> <strong>JOB APPLICATION LINK: </strong>  <a href="http://globalempirellc.catsone.com/careers">https://ghg.catsone.com/careers</a><br />  </span></span><br /> <font face="georgia, serif"><span style="font-size: 14px;"> </span></font></div> Global Empire LLC Lexington KY
