The Lending Manager supervises the lending team of the community or market under the direction of the Community or Market President along with cross selling the bank's other business lines. Provides senior management to the commercial lending function managing small and large commercial relationships that meet established lending requirements in order to provide maximum profits to the bank with a minimum of risk. Key measurements of success are individual and team net new loan and deposit growth, fee income, referrals to other lines of business and portfolio management including asset quality. Officers in this position are expected to manage a minimum portfolio of $35 million.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises entire lending team of community or market under the direction of the Community or Market President.

  • Works with Community or Market President to execute the specific business development plan designed for the community or market focused on growing both small and large commercial relationships through relational selling in a trusted advisor role to assist them in recognizing opportunities and risks while helping them accomplish their goals through their use of Bank's products and services.

  • Actively manages the communities or market's commercial portfolio to include but not limited to past due calls, problem loan management, and exception threshold monitoring & resolution.

  • Expert in all bank lending product lines specifically commercial, SBA and consumer.

  • Reviews and approves commercial credit packages exceeding individual officer lending authorities and works with the community or market president along with executive management and credit function for final approval on larger transactions.

  • Ensures that commercial credit packages prepared by lending officers meet Simmons Bank standards for accuracy, content, and quality of presentation, and provide all information needed for prudent credit decision. Ensures that lending officers comply with Simmons Bank credit policy and prudent lending practices.

  • Prepares and conducts annual evaluations of lending associates, and impose disciplinary action when warranted.

  • Will present recommendations to loan committee and exhibits a deep understanding of the large complex commercial credits presented.

  • Ensure that subordinate officers are reviewing and analyzing complex financial information to determine a borrower's creditworthiness.

  • Become active in the market through membership in business organizations, community events and/or non-profit organizations where one can be in a position to advance the reputation of the Bank.

  • Ability to set and meet challenging individual and market goals without direct supervision in a positive team oriented environment to ensure Bank wide goals are met.

  • Assists the Regional Chairman in the development and implementation of the bank policies and procedures and special projects.

  • Ensures all departmental documents and activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures as applicable to this position, including completion of required compliance training.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

  • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as financial reports, legal documents, procedures manuals, general business correspondence and/or journals or government regulations.

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, to customers, clients, management, board of directors, other employees in the organization, and the general public.

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and issues.

  • Ability to respond in writing to customer complaints, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

Education and/or Experience

  • BS/BA Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is required, and

  • Four to six years of experience in commercial lending with good understanding o underwriting and lending documents, procedures, and policies; at least one year of supervisory or lead experience is preferred.

  • Strong developed sales skills are required.

  • Experience in the local market required for better understanding of the lending environment and potential customer base is preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Graduation from an accredited graduate school of banking, preferred.

Other Qualifications (including physical requirements)

  • Knowledge of the functions and operations of underwriting credit.

  • Strong abilities in leadership and decision making.

Performs all loan and associated member transactions in person, by phone and/or electronically. This position is responsible for providing all credit union lending options, ancillary products and services appropriate to meet the member’s needs and to create strong lasting relationship. Primary Duties Originates and funds all Consumer Lending products as offered by the Credit Union. Advocates for the member and acts as a liaison between the loan officer and the member, when necessary, to gather information required to render a decision and facilitate membership as necessary. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of credit union products and services and communicates advantages and benefits to the members in a way that is fluent and insightful. Successfully manages a loan pipeline, identifies and executes opportunities around the Credit Union’s products and services. Conducts outbound calls to complete denials, counteroffers or confirm closing information within time specified. Responsible for identifying, cross-selling and processing insurance products that complement the appropriate lending product. Adhere to Credit Union Policies and Procedures, and government regulations to ensure compliance, integrity, professionalism, quality and timely service delivery. Consistently provides accurate information to new membership on products, rates, and services either in person, by phone, by mail or by other electronic means. Expands knowledge through training sessions, self-study, and/or personal use of products and services. Initiates depository accounts, as required. Makes referrals for non-traditional investment products through in-house annuity investments and insurance products. Also, directly involved with supporting inbound/outbound telemarketing and direct mail efforts to increase loan production within the Credit Union. Actively participates in business development efforts to attain set membership goals. Activities may include participation in various business or community events. Consistently meet or exceed department and individual sales goals for member service product line and core depository products, i.e.: loan growth and membership growth. The in-branch Consumer Sales Representative will prioritize all lending duties including branch member assistance for all lending needs, queue workgroups for proper coverage and support, and facilitate all assigned online applications. Time permitting the in-branch Consumer Sales Representative will partner with branch teams to perform non-cash transactions including: assisting members with basic account requests, account maintenance, and cross selling eServices when appropriate. Engages Member Specialist as needed and ensures smooth handoff and transition when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Must have high school diploma or equivalency. Some college level courses in Accounting, or approved equivalent in bank related education preferred. Experience Must have two (2) years experience in a financial institution service and/or sales position.
