This position will be based in Watsonville, but may work out of the Graniterock San Jose Construction Office.
General Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the delivery of quality legal services by performing tasks that require the regular exercise of exceptional judgment, significant substantive knowledge and specialization in contract management and system administration, support of the legal discovery process, legal research, due diligence, project management and support of complex legal compliance activities while ensuring alignment with Graniterock's Family Vision, Core Purpose, Core Values, Strategic priorities and business objectives.
Essential Accountabilities
Comply, understand, and promote safety initiatives to ensure "Safety before All Else."
Provide legal review and guidance to all operating divisions with respect to contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and other related matters.
Provide project management support for the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of a corporate contract management system.
Manage the discovery process, including the collection, retention, and production of documents, drafting written responses to discovery, and setting up and maintaining document review files.
Support counsel in all stages of litigation with little guidance; utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics.
Manage collection matters forwarded to the Legal Department.
Collaborate with counsel to solve complex legal projects and support compliance projects.\
Assist and support counsel with legal research or due diligence.
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent evidence of exceptional ability.
Paralegal certification and/or 5+ years' experience working in the legal industry preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have strong technical legal acumen, ability to manage and prioritize a heavy volume of tasks and duties; must be able to work independently while also collaboratively.
Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of matters, work efficiently and proactively, take initiative, prioritize workflow, meet demanding deadlines, and oversee multi-dimensional projects in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and the ability to interface and influence effectively with all levels of Graniterock.
Good understanding of litigation motion practice, discovery, arbitration, trial, and appellate procedures.
Strong work ethic with a goal-oriented focus as well as flexibility to take on new areas of responsibilities
