Your responsibilities in this role

  • Uphold calendars and billing sheets

  • Organize client interaction

  • Carry out administrative tasks as necessary

  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of legal procedures

  • Strong communication skills are essential to communicate with clients in an effective and efficient manner

  • Relay legal correspondence to clients in a clear way

  • Handle assigned files and deliver legal services under attorney supervision

  • Coordinate the resolution of files and assist attorneys in an efficient and effective manner

  • Demonstrated knowledge of summons

  • Foundational knowledge in scanning

  • Data entry experience desired

  • Deep understanding of switchboard phones from 1-10 lines

  • Knowledge of email

  • Adeptness in motions

  • Experience with editing

  • Be efficient in database management

  • Skilled at time management

  • Previous experience handling legal correspondence and court filing is a plus

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills

  • Proficient in local jurisdictional and federal court rules and procedures

  • 3+ years of prior relevant experience

What You'll Do The Legal Department is seeking an entrepreneurial, flexible, high-performing, self-motivated individual to join our team as Operations Manager. You will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our team and will have responsibility for a broad range of activities, including: Contract Management Provide strategic and operational support to the ongoing development, configuration and maintenance of the firm's new Contract Management tool to increase retention of agreements and global consistency across firm contracts including: * coordinating updates to the department's contracts and negotiation portal, including codifying and updating best in class agreements, contract clauses, and negotiation approaches, including self-help for consultants * supporting workflow design, configuration and user training across the above items * serving as the firm's main point of contact with the contract management vendor * Identify and propose approaches to measure and improve contracting effectiveness and compliance, including key metrics and analyses and risk mitigation processes Knowledge Management * Work with the General Counsel and other department and firm leaders to define and drive the Legal Departments knowledge agenda * Coordinate closely with each of the department's Subject Area Teams to capture, curate and disseminate best practice knowledge within the department and the firm * Support the ongoing development, configuration and maintenance of the Legal Department's knowledge database, including developing and implementing best practices for knowledge capture * Identify gaps in the Legal Department's approach to knowledge creation and distribution, and propose and lead efforts to address those gaps Learning Curriculum * Work with the General Counsel and other department and firm colleagues to define learning agenda for the Legal Department * Support implementation of department learning agenda, including coordinating the development and delivery of learning and capability-building programs and curriculum for the Legal Department, across tenures, roles, and geographies * Identify and support additional activities appropriate to ensure continued high-quality onboarding and training for new joiners to the Legal Department * Work closely with firm Learning to implement best practices, processes, etc. Talent Management * Work with the General Counsel and other department and firm leaders to develop a talent strategy for the Legal Department, and lead implementation of that strategy including with respect to recruiting, onboarding, professional development and retention, department administrative support, performance management and team building and effectiveness * Coordinate the recruiting of professionals to the department from identification of candidates, through interviewing and selection and onboarding Department Operations * Ensure effective and efficient Legal Department day-to-day operations * Evaluate existing and alternative approaches for Legal Department workflow, including intake and allocation * Maintain key metrics, develop dashboards, conduct analyses, prepare reports and provide support on projects and initiatives as needed * Support global Legal Department meetings, including preparing agenda, gathering materials and following up with teams * Propose new ideas and support efforts to improve Legal Department infrastructure and operations * Support and identify efforts to improve management of Legal Department financial operations, including budgeting, invoicing and collections Responsibilities may evolve over time as priorities shift.
