The Head of Design & Development will oversee the design & development function and ensure our learning solutions build the capabilities necessary for individuals to act and make decisions consistent with Facebook's mission, values, policies, and culture. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Facebook and/or the digital media industry, extensive expertise in instructional design, including production of scalable learning solutions, a high degree of creativity and experience in learning strategy development, problem solving and project management, as well as passion for helping others. This position is full-time based in Austin or New York. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional partners, legal stakeholders, vendor partners and our global community of learning functions to design and develop learning solutions at scale. HEAD OF LEGAL LEARNING DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES * Develop and drive the vision and strategy for enabling content development across a global, multicultural audience. Lead a team of instructional designers, program managers and content builders to design and develop instructional learning solutions aligned to the needs of our for internal team members and external partners and the larger Facebook learning community which engage and educates our diverse learning organization. Evolve instructional design methodology and processes for both instructor-led content and self-paced, digital content which delivers a blended and "right-sized" experience for audiences. Leverage Facebook learning technology such as Cornerstone On Demand (CSOD), Workplace Groups, Live, Oculus and the MPK studio to create bite-sized learning content which is measurable and innovative. Build relationships within Learning and Development (L&D), Blueprint, GSL and other cross-functional business partners, globally, to collaborate on skill gaps and learning priorities. Develop and manage a network of vendors and contractors who can help with scaling to the needs of a global audience. Conduct content "hack" sessions and lead discussions around how to identify learning objectives and which learning modalities are most appropriate. Pilot, launch, and iterate on learning assets including e-Learns, animations, videos, course materials, presentations, integrated curriculums etc. Promote Legal Learning programs and content through the creation of creative campaigns including posters & snack-sized video modules served up as ads to audiences. Establish measurement strategy and framework to communicate impact of learning solutions. Partner closely with the Legal Learning Operations team to ensure processes are established to ensure quality execution of learning assets. Role requires ~15-20% travel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * 10+ years of experience as a leader in a learning organization using knowledge of adult learning principles in the content development process 5+ years of people management experience Experience implementing instructional design methodologies (ADDIE and Agile) Experience identifying and implementing learning modalities at scale including blended, digital self-paced/e-Learning, video-based learning, animations, video, audio and integrated performance support tools Experience working with Legal and Compliance teams and experience navigating the learning challenges faced in these environments Experience building, managing, coaching, and leading teams of managers and individual contributors Experience communicating with, influencing, and presenting to a variety of audiences, including global cross-functional leaders Experience thinking creatively to solve problems and develop program deliverables Experience working independently, managing multiple concurrent projects, and driving initiatives in a cross-functional environment PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with Facebook's LMS platform, CSOD Experience in related fields: usability and experience design, information design, communications and new technologies Experience with Facebook's family of products and services Experience working with or in support of diverse communities Facebook's mission is to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.
