The primary responsibilities of the Legal Operations Specialist include driving a wide range of activities to help optimize the efficiency of the Legal department, track and contain costs and drive the efficient use of legal technology and other resources.
Drive a wide range of budgeting activities, including quarterly budgeting and accruals processes and tracking various expenses
Drive financial and data analysis and track various metrics in support of enhanced legal results
Manage the company's e-billing system (Serengeti Legal Tracker) and lead e-billing best practices, including billing guidelines, rate evaluation and alternative fee arrangement tracking
Help lead and transform the use of the contract management system (Apttus), including programming templates and driving best practices
Support law firm RFP processes and law firm evaluation processes
Drive transformation of legal technology, including optimizing existing technology and tools and deploying new technology, tools and workflows
Drive a wide range of continuous improvement efforts and cost efficiencies
Create, update and maintain process and procedure documentation, including knowledge management resources
Drive transformation of Legal's website
Help lead various sourcing initiatives and discovery work
Additional duties and responsibilities as needed, including supporting various other legal operations work streams, meeting planning and preparation and other responsibilities as needed
Work with members of Legal leadership, other attorneys and staff on departmental matters as needed
Key Skills, Abilities and Experience Required
5+ years of Legal Operations or related professional experience in a corporate legal/finance department or law firm; budgeting and financial acumen
E-billing experience (Serengeti Legal Tracker preferred)
Advanced knowledge of legal technology (including contract management systems) preferred
Excellent planning and organizational skills, time management, analytical and problem solving skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills, customer service orientation and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships; works well in team environment
Excellent attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel (pivot tables, charts, formulas), SharePoint, and Power Point and other financial software applications
Highest integrity and demonstrated ability to handle confidential information
Results and detail orientation
Follow through on projects and commitments with speed and efficiency
Forward-thinking; plan effectively against future needs with a process-minded orientation

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, advanced degree or training preferred
